Re: Fabulous Four thriving
Doesn't really worry me to be up early - there's so much to do....clean out pen, fresh bedding, feed the hordes and clean the house then start grooming

Yep sadly they must move on but it is a great comfort to know they are going to great homes but i feel sure they would not be moving on if this were not so Enjoy them while you can

To keep or not to keep - that is the question...
Forum members I value your opinions and would like to know what you think.....several people have told me not to keep one of my precious four babies as I will have "too many dogs".
I disagree as I work from home, have a huge yard and ten acres, a large car and keep them immaculate.
As most of you know I already have four standards and a mini.
I didn't breed the litter to sell - I bred because I thought it was a great match of two lovely animals with beautiful temperaments so I could keep one!!!!!
I mind dogs for these people so my response next time will be sorry, I've got too many to take one more

Here she is - my future agility champion! They love to have obstacles in their yard to hide under, slide down, push each other off and generally destroy. I've now put a travel crate in with them so they become accustomed to it - probably off to Melbourne on April 15th.
Freshly bathed - she better like it cause she sure gets dirty!

Well, I think that "several people" should mind their own business. You are an excellent owner/ breeder/ groomer/ mom...what else? Oh yeah, friend! God I almost had a typo and put fiend ....Of course you are keeping one of your grandpups. I know I would. So does your baby have a name?

Merryl in my opinion ( with 5 dogs of my own and not as much room as you) it is no ones business or place to tell you how many dogs you should have...I think you should do what your heart tells you and after all you have been through with them it would be nice for you to keep one of your little treasures but whatever it is YOUR decision!!

Merryl, I think people have hit the nail on the head when they said it is your decision. As to numbers - that is between you and the council LOL
I think it is a difficult decision when you have invested so much time and emotion into the survival of these guys because they nearly didn't make it.
However, you must have had a clear goal when you bred the litter - so just think back to that and your decision should be easier.
It is difficult when we wear so many hats: Pet owner, exhibitor and breeder. If your primary goal was to keep a pet then there is a little fur ball with your name on it!! If your aim was to keep a show puppy - then maybe there is one maybe not. If your aim was to incorporate the sires line because it contributes qualities that you desire then you probably want to keep a bitch because you are looking at the lines she brings not just her phenotype.

Ditto Tracy Merryl, We usually breed for a purpose......that's your business and no one else's...How are we to learn about lines, combining traits, genetics etc if we dont at least "run" on for a while Good luck with your decision....it will be in the"bestest" home!!!!

I agree with everything everyone has said. Believe me i have experienced your pack of pooches first hand and they are always happy, healthy and you are always stress free and don't seem to be at all bothered by the work involved in their care. I think you are going to have a challenge keeping a white pup clean but what an adventure that will be . Go with your gut Merryl, I feel if you were ever in a perfect position to take on another pup now would be the time.

Re: Fabulous Four thriving
Aaaaww.....I knew my forum buddies would help me out Thank you all for your "two bob's worth" and yes, I'm keeping the WHITE girl. All puppies are beautiful in my unbiassed opinion but she has the attitude I wanted from her sire, as well as some other nice qualities. She has her dam's gorgeous head and rear end..... obviously not perfect but I'm very happy with the mix.
Any of you who like naming dogs suggest away - she is yet un-named!
Fluffy girl! This was their first "visit" other than to the vet and they adapted immediately. This little one wandered down to a pen full of Am Staffs and barked back at them...a very self assured young lady, one might say foolish!
Thanks again for your words of encouragement, especially Brooke, who is well acquainted with my gang. The pack was even bigger when I had her three, Mum's and my niece's dogs all at once. (ten!)

Sorry Anthony, it's two puppies that are flying to Melbourne, not me. I would have loved to book them two seats and fly between them, but airlines are so particular You will have to wait until Ausgroom to have the pleasure of my companyCoatCutter wrote:6 dogs!!!
