GOOD NEWS for chase (well sort of)
The one good advice is to always trust your instincts, and I am so glad I did this time. In the past post I told you about chase's possible cruciate injury and how I was told by the vet that he needed to have surgery immediately.
I have seen a few cruciate injuries in dogs I have groomed and from the things I looked up on the internet just didn't add up to what I was seeing in chase. He was holding his leg up but he didn't walk on it like I see in most cruciate tares.
I got in boxed by donna and then tails a waggin (I could not thankyou enough guys) of a really good vet in Melbourne. Lucky today I had a few friends’ dogs I was grooming so moved them around so I could get chase to the vet today. I told the vet the story of how chase got his injury but didn’t tell him that I saw a previous vet. He got chase on the table and started feeling his leg. The first thing he said was "well it’s not his cruciate because his knees seem in really good condition". As soon as he told me that I looked at my dad, who came with me, and told him what the first vet said. So to make sure he brought in another vet for an opinion and he came up with the same conclusion. What a relief.
In the end what actually might be causing the problem is not his knees at all but possibly a pinched nerve or muscle near where his back bone and leg bone meet. He still is not out of the woods yet his been given a shot of anti inflammatory and has two keep still till after Christmas where the vet will reassess the situation again. But at least thank God he did not go through unnecessary surgery. Sorry for such a long post but I needed to get everything out. Thankyou again to tail a waggin. He will definitely be my permanent vet now. You could really see he knew what he was talking about and not just going off a text book like most vets these days

Hi Chase
Glad you managed to get a second opinion and a good one by the sounds of it.
I hope all goes well with keeping him still

I'm thrilled to hear the news. Funny I was in there yesterday about 4ish. He is good isn't he and I've sent lot's of customers to him. All the girls are lovely there as well. Worth the short drive from where you are as well.
