cat clipping II

Hi everyone

I know we've been over this topic and I've picked up lots about clipping
cats. So i've got my own cat Bart and clipped his tummy today and it
was a bit of a disaster and has put me off clipping cats in general.
First of all the 10 blade I was using kept running over his fur to start
with, like I had to shave it off in layers until it got to the skin.
The blade is sharp and i was keeping his skin as tight as I could.
Secondly, do you have to shave them with a 10? I've heard before that
combs don't work like they do on a dogs coat. And yet I just saw the cat you did Shivers and that didn't look like a 10 blade? That looked fantastic!

Any help most appreciated.

All I can say is a reverse clip w/ a 10blade and of course you can use snap ons with cats.

We clip quite a few cats ...all with no sedation ..I will only use a 10 blade (less chance of nicks)...their hair is usually so soft that it will clogg in between the teeth on the blade very quickly..always use a newly sharp blade...keep your toothbrush onhand to unclogg it.... getting started is the hardest bit but once you are thru the coat & its easy....fat cats are much easier to clip than skinny ones.

If they are matted I usually cut a line down the spine with the scissors & work down each side.

Oh & clip the nails B4 you even pick up the clippers :-0

What? Why won't a clean, no mats, fluff out coat cut through with a #10?
Maybe it's your blade. #10's the safest blade on cat coat/skin cause their skin's really thin. You could do a snap on comb but BE CAREFUL!.

The last 2 pics of my cat... the first with mane pic was when she was freshly done with #10. Her first haircut... she just turn 1 by the way and I wanted to get her use to it. Then the 2nd w/o mane pic yes she's growing out a little with #4 blend in head just cause I was curious on what she would look like.

Right now it's summer here... I am letting her grow back out to her normal fluffy mink coat for the winter. =^_^=

Creative maybe next summer. We'll see... cat

The #10 cuts thru like a dream....but I find that the soft hair fills the teeth ...not in between the cutting plates..if you get what I mean :-)

I wont use combs or longer blades..way to risky with the soft skin :-0

I find some of my blades work on cats some dont. even if they are shapr only 1 out of my 7 #10 blades like cat hair
