Re: Comp pictures
I love all these!!!! Fun, fun, fun I have seen a lot before and one I absolutely loved was a standard clipped like a giraffe Amazing!!!! These groomers are of the highest standard. I never cease to be blown away...You girls and CC will have fun when your poodle babes are grown......Don't think a specialist judge would appreciate a pink poodle viying for best of breed!!!!!

The rooster, peacock and Ninja turtle are the same person, Sandy Hartness.
I love, love the purple with grapes!!
Teh fallen souldier, I THINK, won peoples choice at Hershey a few years ago
The funniest thing is, before the comp, these dogs are walking around, partially prepared and you really have no idea what they could be until it starts to take shape on the stage. There was this little toy poo that was all lime green. It looked a mess but when she was done, and the dog sat down he looked just like a FROG!

Re: Comp pictures
So are these comps open to the public, or the grooming public, or just competitors? Are they usually just a one day event? Tell me more!!!!
I saw a comp advertised in australia once, but it was only open to competitors, which i found really silly. Not even other groomers were allowed in.

Re: Comp pictures
The creative comps are at the end of the last day of some of the trade shows.
Anyone in the trade show can watch them like any other comp.
I don't know how much prep work is allowed but alot come already with some color or weird scissor work that turns into something when they;re done, It;s fun to watch

These are pics that I posted last year after the Sydney PetExpo. It's of the creative class. Some of you newer members may not have seen them. Enjoy...

Re: Comp pictures
I have pics but am new to the computer thing so i'll have to figure out how to post, can't even do emoticons yet.
My dog was displayed a few times on the bit Dr Harry did on grooming (better homes and gardens) last month.
It's not hard to do the groom but comming up with the idea is painful especially with the creative people in last years comp. It's just big fun, the breed groom comps are the ones to win!!
I'm entered in the national groom comps like the ones in sydney last year they are on every year and will be in Melbourne next year. It's open to anyone.

Re: Comp pictures
Sorry you need to wait anothe 2 years for it to be in Sydney again. It rotates each year Sydney, Brisbane then Melbourne. so brisbane this year Melb next then back to Sydney 2011.
It's open to anyone in the industry you just need to regester costs about $20. worth traveling interstate for though so are the seminars, I've been doing it for years i'm addicted.

Re: Comp pictures
So if it is Brisbane this year and access is v cheap - with cheap flights that would be more economical than doing the Ausie Groom in Melbourne at $350.00 a day!! I would be interested to know more about brisbane??

Melbourne is seminars you sit down all day and hear experts speak so it costs alot of money to rent the confrence room and the speakers. (bit upset that they are mostly aus speakers and it still costs so much) not to knock the aus groomers have comped with and against them they are great people! Gold coast is just groom comps and trade expo so the exibitors (wholesalers) pay for the hall and the info is low just wat you can pick up by watching.

Your not a broken record it is a little confusing if you have not attended before but it's all worth the time and mostly the money, it's like this forum but in person very inspiring
They used to do the seminars and the trade show with comps all in the same week in the same state. They found that some people were struggling as they tried to attend all events posted and it was a full on 4 days. so about 2 years ago they split the seminars and expo/comps to 2 different times in the year and in two different states.
So this year the seminars are in Melb (groomex) and the comps are in Gold Coast and next year the seminars will be in Sydney and comps in Melb. This years details and some of next years details are on the PIAA Pet Industry Association website.
Hope this helps
