Prices for cat grooming
Just wondering what, if you do cats, do you charge? Had a call today and I quoted $60-$80 to do a ventral clip and brush out. She was an older lady, and said that she would call back. May have been a bit too much because she didn't call back. May have been a pensioner. I figure that if they bite you in the wrong spot, you could be out for a few days or even weeks.

Re: Prices for cat grooming
Cat well i hate doing cats, as i am allergic. Bit still do when i have too. At my old work they charge around -
$50 for bath short coat.
$60 up bath Long coat.
Clip off Was $80- $150 depending on cat and breed.
Cats are hard to do and dangerous. I avoid doing at all cost won't even do friends cats if i can avoid and when i have to i charge big in hope they will go somewhere else. I hate the sneezing for two days after lol

Re: Prices for cat grooming
Friend of mine gets her cat clipped off or $80 in a small country town, she was quoted $120 for clip off in a more affluent suburb. Steve won't let me get near cats, too dangerous, I've seen 2 groomers with massive damage done to their arms from cats, and one was sedated!!!!

cat grooming
I don't advertise doing cats, but will happily give them a go. Won't bath them at all. I charged $40 for a clip only on a quiet cat last week, took 20 minutes to do. The price would increase the longer it took.

95 for anything done to a cat plus 35 for sedation. All are sedated and fast asleep and none get a bath. I do a lot of cats and they are easy money because they take less than 30 mins. Some get shaved off, some have lion clips, some are tummy and sani shaves and the rest combed out. I would never do them without sedation. Much too dangerous, been there, done that with a cat bite.

cat costs
As a cat breeder I would not even do a clip, and I was asked often enough when I was grooming full time. There are not enough $$ for me to do one .

Hi cat lovers
As a newbie I enjoy reading your forum, very interesting & informative.
I absolutely adore cats & learnt how to groom them as part of a pet grooming course, my class mates said i have a death wish.
Just starting up my own cat grooming business, always happy to chat to anyone with ideas & information.

I apply the same rules to cats as i do dogs, if they pose a risk forget it!

Sedated cats can be done (at 3 diff vets) charges depending on time in half hour lots starting from $30 (not including vet fees)

Cat Grooming
Hi Jacqui
How long have you been cat grooming? Do you go mobile? I am still considering that option.
I thought only vet nurses could clip off cats under sedation. Good suggestion!
I agree with you about the risks, if to dangerous or stressed, I suggest they see their vet.
Have already had one nasty bite requiring my arm in a sling & penicillin.

Re: Prices for cat grooming
Ive groomed cats since i started dog grooming 9 yrs ago. i dont do all that many, a lot of people dont like the prices but i consider it danger money and wont lower them.
No mobile, im at a salon.
Ill only do sedated cats (or dogs for that matter) at a vet clinic with a vet on hand. they just give me a room and off i go! No nurses needed! The vet charges for sedation and i change for my time.

Cat Grooming
Hi Jacqui
you have that lovely salon on Mt Dandy Rd. I have been grooming on & off since 2006
Cats I groom un-sedated of course, owners stay & help hold them for me, they seem to prefer to stay.
I am currently developing safety wear for myself & the owners. You are right, it is danger money,
owners pay I believe around $250 at the vet? All my clients have been happy with the clip offs.

Cat Grooming
Hi, my dog grooming friends are surprised that the cat owners stay, personally,
I think the cats are more comfortable with mum there, & I have nothing to hide,
in fact one cat 15 yr old went a bit psycho, I explained to owner that is why
sedation under vet care is safe for everyone.
thanks i will call in some time

Re: Prices for cat grooming
Eww...cat grooming. I really don't like to do it but I still take them. Not sure about the price differences here in the States. B/O shorties start @ 35 and longies at 63. All clipping is extra. Lion clips are around 80. I do groom alone so the owner(s) usually stay and assist and it does work out quite well. I only had a big fattie cat whose owner left and lemme tell you my arm was breaking. He had to be close to 25 lbs and was getting a GI issue. If you know what I mean. I will just shave out a few matts for 20 and I always get a big tip. Vets around here will do the same. Shave out just a few for 120. Isn't that robbery? It is fast money though. I just wish I wouldn't sweat bullets the whole time I groomed them.

Re: Prices for cat grooming
Any photos on cat grooming would be most appreciated. And TIPS! Ah, if only, do you guys in the US get tipped by every customer? And can I be rude and ask how much, like percentage wise or $ wise if you're game to tell.

How do you attach images here?
Did someone say pics?
<---- An image nut. I have tons of pics.
Normally if they want their cat groom's a #10 lion cut.

OMG! The black/white, AWESOME!! looking!
I have to start taking some pics of cats, it's just really hard holding them down and using a camera...
My helper is only 13, don't know if I want to expose her to cats just yet.. wouldn't want to scare her away...
