At the moment my website is through vista print, but I have decided I want to get a software program so I can build my own and not have to pay the monthly fee to vistaprint. I like the fact that I can edit my website whenever I want through vista so that's why I don't want a web designer to do it because I would have to pay him every time I wanted anything changed. Does anyone know of a good software program thats easy to use??

You still have to pay per month for hosting doing your own website but if you find the right provider I think it’s something like $2 per month. Joomla is good web software and it’s free. You can ask a web designer to make your site through joomla so you can take over to maintain it. Not many designers may take up the offer but you will find them. It does take a lot of effort to build a sight so that may be your best option.
My sister used to design the website for the company she worked at so i don't think its that hard just very time consuming.
you can look up Joomla on the net but if you want to know anymore detail i'm sure i can ask my sister so just let me know. once i'm set up properly she will be doing my website that way

As Chase said you will still need a web host, which you pay per month to keep your website up as well as paying for your domain name each year or 2 depending on what you choose.
I designed my own website with iweb on my mac. Its basic but works and doesn't require any special html knowledge. I have adobe cs4 but still haven't worked out how to use it yet. I am sure there are other basic software out there.
Making it my self gives me the freedom to alter my website when i want.
If you make your own website you will probably also need a FTP program to copy files from your computer to the web hosting server, there are free ones and lots of tutorials on how to do it online. If i can do it anyone can
I am currently with webcity for hosting but I am not keen on them as i paid for one year and 2 weeks before it expired they charged my card for the second year without asking if i wanted to renew.
