Re: Our pet pictures
A half a Hoover, how cute. Now we know why you took to Hoover so much. Are you sure you didn't "steal" Hoover and give him a dye job.

Stunningly presented Tammy, a beautiful drape on the coat - so are you showing this weekend - or can't you leave those babes?
You could teach the Skye people up here a thing or two.

Re: Our pet pictures
Tammy, is his coat tied up between baths? or oiled? What about urine staining?
Just curious coz i'd never be able to have an afghan or shih tzu (that was being shown) not tied up and oiled.
Just wondering if he has an easy coat to manage. Thanks!

Re: Our pet pictures
He looks absolutely stunning.....dont you just love the look of a coated dog....Andie I used to love seeing the Carloway ?? afghans in Adelaide in the late 60's So regal. Tammy, I saw a picture of a skye in a magazine (not old) of a dog impoted from germany with low ears....Not a close up photo so couldnt really capture the expression....So different....Love the erect ears though....adds so much character...

Andie,no wrapping,no oil......All i do with Luke is keep him kenneled a fair bit,in his run.He gets out several times a day and has a run in the garden and a play with the other dogs(he lurves all the other dogs )....but he is kenneled on his own or with our little mutt dog sometimes ,as even 2 minutes of 'neck bite play' can wreck months ,years,of coat growth.Other than that, weekly bath no matter what. Any old shampoo, rinsed through in the hydrobath (no hand scrubbing) ,then some conditioner, whatever's going at the time, just rinsed through ,again, keep fingers out of the coat.
Then....i use the HV with no concentrator nozzle to dry him . I DO NOT use a brush in his coat while drying. No fluff drying,no stretch drying....just carefully force dry all the way . Once he is dry i carefully brush through with my silver LesPooch brush ,then comb through once with a CC comb.....THATS IT !
between baths i NEVER 'brush him out'. If by chance he gets grubby or knotty, then its back to the bath . I NEVER brush a dry coat....with the exception of immediately after a bath,or show days where i use a brass pin brush & comb ,but that all happens just a few hrs after his bath . If showing the next day,we do the whole bath again.
their hair is fairly course and really quite easy to keep. From experimenting with a million products,i have found going back to the most basic products and routines is best, and keep tools and hands out of the coat .
I have gotten over all the products pushed as the next big thing,or the winning edge etc ,and now just do what i feel really works for me.....and hey,its a lot cheaper too.
I also believe that unless you feed right( for me thats 100% RAW),it doesnt matter what you throw in or on a coat .

yes i saw the pics of the Skyes in DNA. Actually the names for the 2 dogs are the wrong way around. The dark grey dog is Touch of frost of morningsky & the blonde drop eared dog is Rusalkas jefferson.

Re: Our pet pictures
Thanks Donna,
He's been out since April due to the economy forcing me back to full-time work but if I can work around the grooming I'm hoping to do ;)he and his sister (she's already titled) will be back in next year. That's the beauty of the boys - you've got forever. However, he is a bit of a sook (my fault) so I need to jazz him up a bit. I'm a poor "showie" - they run around the farm, swim in the dam, sleep on my bed and wrestle endlessly - love 'em all to bits.

Re: Our pet pictures
love those long tails. Wish Nat had hers intact but I don't think the person i got her from was sure which pup she was gonna sell me so she docked them all. I also think she wasn't planning to give me a whiter one but nat is pretty white..well, more pink..but not cream, like the MOm.
But then, I'm white blind and don't have alot of knowledge about these things anyway. I just know she is color-able.
I also have no idea how to stack a dog... obviosly.. but she's so sweet, I love her so much, and Mingi-Dingi too!
