Flea control ...once a month tablet
I have just been advised by one of my clients about the availability of Comfortis....a once a month chewable tablet for flea control . It acts like Capstar and knocks the fleas instantly but lasts for the month, Helps with flea allergy dermatitis too ,,,You must give the tablet with food and vomiting can be a side reaction....It can be used with other topical heartworm treatments and tick treatments but not for cats. Watch that there is no ivermectin (used to prevent heartworm) overdose .Make sure you do not self medicate and adhere to recommended doses of products.

many breeds are very sensitive to Ivermectin......Skye Terriers being one, as well as Collie breeds ,i believe also Borzoi......i'm sure there are others. I would not recommend it for these breeds.
I saw a lot of negative press on this product from the US.....proceed with caution

I hate it too. But it's very needed here.
You have your aweful things too, those grass seed stories are horrible!
So we have to deal with our environments, I guess!
I ve been reading about unnessesary vaccines and such and gets me mad I don't know enough to go against a vet's adivce but I'll get there.
I have to say, I had heard about Comfortis on a forum and googled it. Then I asked my vet and he didn't know much about it.. It has worked for me and I have recommended it to some clients and they have had luck also.
Here, Advantage an frontline are not working as well as they have been. Fleas are becoming immune. I felt I had to try something different because I had so many flea dogs coming in and my girls are in and out of the shop a lot. I can only clean so much!
Google, google , google! Way more info there, just my 2 cents!
PS, my Vet is onboard now..

Re: Flea control ...once a month tablet
There are quite a few different products now to control fleas......It pays to change around a bit so immunity doesnt develop....We live on a sand island....flea heaven. The high humidity also helps the flea to thrive. No real let up all year including our mild winter.So.....products are desperately needed in a lot of instances.I never had a problem with fleas in Darwin but as soon as I arrived here.....presto....Thnk goodness my adult shepherds were not shown any longer, as the sand and fleas in their coat wore their teeth so that the bite was incorrect....They had already passed "breed survey" before arriving here.
