Chicken carcasses

Post by Coatsntails on Wed Jun 10, 2009 5:44 pm

I have fed Lindy on chicken necks for years. Brought her some chicken carcasses today. Question, to I cut it in half or just give it to her whole and let her "go for it"?.

i would think a whole one is too much food for her really...i would cut it in half. I use a set of ancient Geib Gator 88's for this job. They must have cut 1000's of chick. carcass into bits and theyre still the best 'tool' i ever discovered for the job, I used to use garden cutters . i never found chicken scissors or cutters any good.
Luke & Dee,who weigh 18kgs & 13kgs only get 1/2 carcass per day. They are quite active and this much keeps them just right

Yeah that might be the answer, gotto go find something to cut it up with now, cause she sure as hell knows they are in the fridge and will have to have 1/2 tomorrow. Thanks

Mine all get roughly 1/4 of a carcass as "dessert"... lol... after their morning meal when they don't have a lamb neck bone or a piece of roo tail. I cut them all up when i buy them then bag and freeze in 4 serve bags.

Yes Lori, we do eat Kangaroo. They are farmed especially for human consumption. We also eat Emu, that is farmed. Lovely meats if cooked the right way.

I'm with you Emma, meat YUCK!!!! Our dogs and cats eat raw roo meat and it stinks. They might be cute but kangaroos are pests who jump onto the road in front of cars a lot and they do a lot of damage if you hit one.

mine get the whole lot....even the tiny taters get the wishbone...sometimes even cut in half sharp as heck. Thats what dogs eat ! never in over 20 yrs have i had a problem, except with small dogs and chicken necks ,as they like to swallow them down whole and get them stuck. jaggedy bits are safer cos they have to chew them.

Our guys get one big meaty one each or 2-3 wings or 5-6 necks. When we get the chance, we buy in 20kg boxes.

Do you guys eat lamb? That's the most gamey thing I eat, very rare. We have an emu farm in my town right near an alpaca farm but we don't eat them. Actually, I don't know WHAT they do with the emu's, but the alpaca are shorn for their fur..

Beware there are roo's loose on the Tullamarine freeway today. Anyone coming to Melbourne from OS will think this is the norm, lets face it isn't it what they come here for to see roo's walking down Bourke St.

Anyway heres a pic of Lindy enjoying the first of her many to come chicken carcasses. Will be better for her than the necks, cause she justs woofs them down, but had to chew this!!!!!!
