Already thinking of changing my business name!
I have quite a few calls from prospective clients asking if I can do their area as they are in a suburb thats off the Bayside area suburbs, the thing is I do the surrounding suburbs of the Bayside area, so now Im thinking how many people dont call me because they think just by reading my business name "Bayside Hounds" I only do the bayside suburbs. I think I have pigeon holed myself!!
I guess it would be easier to change my name now rather than a year down the track, less confusion that way.
Thoughts, Im leaning more towards changing it

Re: Already thinking of changing my business name!
I had the same problem with "Poodle Antics", people thought I only did Poodles (which is not a bad idea). I looked at how they where finding me and made changes to keep the name. In the yellow pages I had 'All Dog Breeds' inserted below the logo ( http://bit.ly/yzabyc ) and when people called they actually asked if was 'All Dog Breeds' . I also added All Dog Breeds and Sizes on the back of the ute, a few subtle changes on the the website and the rest is history. Look at how the public are finding you and go from there, hope this helps in your decision.

It's all in your marketing and advertising. Don't be quick to make name changes and add to confusion. As Chris said, slight changes to existing advertising will catch on. Just working and travelling in surounding suburbs will eventually catch on... Be patient.

Think about long term to, as perhaps when your business grows you won't need clients far from home anyway. I would concentrate on heavily marketing your ''Bayside area'' and don't worry about outside areas so much. Profits are hugely affected by travel time. It all depends on population/doggy density in your area and the radius you are talking about

O.M.G I've just noticed your name change.....
My husband has had that nickname all his life. All our friends and even friends of friends know him as that...
Sorry Serz you'll still be "Bayside Hounds" to us... Only room for one "Bubbles" in Melbourne..
