The Grooming School Empty The Grooming School

Post by Cessnock Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:58 am

Im excited Very Happy just booked myself in for a 10 day taylor made grooming course at The Grooming School...it has been 12 years since I have done any 'formal training' wow time flies by fast ...& things have changed alot in that time.

I was happy to find out that the grooming schools will work in with your schedule & experience ...so no time off work is needed I can go in 1 day a week on my day off & they will work with me on my weak points (hmm maybe i will need more than 10 days lol)

& Im adding a day at 'the festival of creative grooming' too ...woohoo pretty coloured dogs ...its becomming more & more popular in our little country town ...have been getting around one newbie month :-)

Im looking forward to adding a few new skills/styles to my work :-)

2 weeks down & loving every min of it ...Im doing 1 on 1 training with Christine learning more about fault fixing profiles & hand scissoring ....1st week we covered westies & scotties ...last week was bichon & schnauzer

The Grooming School Bichon10 This is my attempt at hand scissoring a 6 month old Bichon after blocking in the sides of the body with a few snapons :-) (ignore the rear sticky outties got them after the pic..its the profile we were aiming at ...rear/fore angulation :-)

For anyone thinking of updating their skills...I highly recommend it ..I have already picked so many little hints & tips to ad a tad more style to my grooming :-)

yes you take notes all the way through...& they supply a pic of each dog that you can draw/mark for later reference ..& get a report card at the end of each task.

Bath/drying a poodle for competition standard was another task I did this week...a lot different than a standard blow dry ...very interesting stuff :-)

these are this week Bichons ...was left to my own devices on the grooms ..think they came up pretty damn good considering 4 weeks ago full hand scissoring was something I had never attempted :-D I was not even holding my scissors correctly ...makes a difference... I find myself at work now scissoring instead of repicking up the clippers :-D

Next week is the creative grooming festival ...woohoo colours!!! :-)

Lovely work Nat. I wish I could groom like that. That illuminated table would be awesome, especially for dark coloured coats.

Awesome work Nat.... You should be very proud of your efforts. It's unreal that your striving for even more perfection...... Good on you..I'd just kill to be able to get my hands on a Bichon with a coat that could be groomed like that. LOL......

Great work, I did my foundation training at TGS, sounds like they have a great organized program in place now.
