What flea treatment you use?

Post by Emmalovesbeth on Fri Dec 23, 2011 9:03 am

Hi guys!

Wondering what you use IF you use a montly flea treatment.

I was using comfortis but they have since changed to panarmise which does fleas, intestinal worms and Heartworms..

So far it is the only treatment that works for us as i bath the dogs on a weekly basis and they go to the beach almost every week and no matter what back of the neck treatment i try it all juat washes off...

So what do you use and find works?

I like revolution because it covers mange as well. Working in this industry you don't know what other dogs bring in, so i like to be covered for as much as possible.

I take my dog swimming a lot as well but i find if you let flea treatment set for one full day you dont have a problem with it. they will wash off but usually the treatment will have already blended into the dogs skin.

I have 3 small dogs and up till now have been giving them Comfortis. Problem is that one of the toy poodles - Buddy, throws up after given it. So far the other 2 hold theirs down. This is the second time that this has happened to him. They have all been on it for around a year now and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else where a dog can't tolerate it anymore after being on it for a while.

I use comfortis for all my dogs and haven't seen a flea since. Same response for all my clients that now use it.

The elanco drug company recently introduced Panoramis which is what Emma was talking about, i think. Its the comfortis drug Spinosad mixed with milbemycin, it does fleas, heartworm, whipworm, hookworm and roundworm. It just doesn't do tapeworm.

According to the rep, the mix of the 2 drugs reduces the likelihood of the dog vomiting. So that may be an option for your dog yadiyap. It can also be used from 8 weeks of age because of this reduction in vomiting, unlike comfortis that has a minimum age of 14 weeks. Smile
