Post by tezzymusic Fri Nov 11, 2011 3:42 pm

What do you call the thing that if I accidentally cut into the quick of the pet's nail? The thing that can stop the blood bleeding straight away! Something got to do with iron?! O_O??

And where can I find that thing? and for much?

Quik Stop is the brand here. It is stypic powder. It is not very expensive. I get mine at shows but they might have it in pet stores too.Very Happy

Thanks Lorie! I'll go to shows or pet shops and ask for it!

Stypic powder you can get it thru all the grooming wholesalers :-) Also a bottle of 3%peroxide will remove the blood from the coat if you do have an oops without having to rewash or in case of a graze :-)

Thanks Cessnock,

I think stypic powder is the one! Cos I remember when my groomer teacher told me something to do with the thing, but yeah..., will go to local grooming wholesalers/suppliers to see! Do you know how much is the powder or the bottle?

Cheers!

So then do you just squirt onto the nails?

I ordered quikstop from America in the powder form and also gel. Have used the powder once and is good, but have not used the gel yet. I think clipperworld use to have that brand.

kind of, you just push the plunger until a small amount appears at the end then just apply to the nail, the one i currently have is also antiseptic and numbing according to the tube. I use it on miner nicks to stop bleeding as well as on nails. (especially useful for when you clip warts cause they bleed heaps)
