Pet Esthe Empty Pet Esthe

Post by Tanyaka Fri Sep 09, 2011 8:23 am

I bought my kit last year and had only used it on my own dog until recently. I've just aquired a new client who loves colouring her dogs.. I've done it twice in about a month. First time it was blue ears and tail on one dog, blue tail and feet on the other.
Second time repeating the blue ears and tail, but not putting clear in it, trying to make the colour stronger, and didn't bother with the feet on the other one (the colour was completely gone already!!!) instead we did tail half blue, half red and did a red mohawk Smile Very awesome.

Anyway, just from that and one application of blue on my chi's feet and tail... my blue tube is empty!!

Anyone have any tips on dying? I just seem to need to use heeeeeeaps overwise there will be streaks that haven't been coloured properly. Infact, even when I am using heaps and I THINK i'm being really thourough and getting to the roots.. there are still a few white spots that stand out after the wash!

I charged really only for the colour itself... If I charged for the extra time and material required to do it... it would be too expensive of a service. What have you guys found with clients and colouring?

Where are the pics :-)

Try holding the tail out & only applying colour to the roots 1st, use a tint brush & the pointy handle to seperate the tail as you work around it , then place on foil & work it through to the ends ...the excess you have on the roots will work through to the ends so not as much dye is used. or before the foil you can place the tail inside a freezer bag & massage the colour thru.

Same for the ears ..I hold them out & start at the neck end...dropping a layer of hair down to get to the roots.. .paint..seperate paint til you get al the roots covered...then place on foil & work through the ends :-)

Cover the surrounding area in conditioner/shampoo (whatever ) to stop the dye taking if a splat happens...spray botte of water on the splat & wipe off .

When I use the paintbox dyes...I will get 2 lots of ears & tail from 1 75ml bottle .

Now my question is ...having never done a mowhawk ...does the pet esthe dye stain the surrounding area in the wash off if you have missed covering a bit with the conditioner etc? or if you rinse & shampoo straight away is it all good.....the semis will grab anything that is not covered

My mohawk was a bit of a cheat, his head was black with a stripe of white.. so I dyed the white and then clipped the black shorter.

I haven't used shampoo or a barrier cream before, I usually just rope someone in to helping me hold and i'm painfully careful haha. But when I get pet esthe on the body or something it comes out very easily if I wipe it off with water or remover quick enough Smile

Will post pics in a moment Smile

It wont let me post the pics from my computer, computer is being a bit sluggish I think. But if that link works it directs to my colouring page where a few shots of the little mohawk is Smile
