My Furbabies
This is Peppa my pride and joy... She is 9 years old and she moved in at the age of 10 weeks....She is the offspring of my neighbours dogs Priscilla and Charlie (both no longer with us)...I first met her at the age of two weeks when Priscilla graciously allowed me to hold her...at the age of 6 weeks i decided she had to come live with me and was delighted when she finally came home.... I started grooming because i was not about to trust anyone else with my baby (i hated it even if i had to leave her at the vet ..lol) and when i decided i needed a career change and to reskill...i went to Richmond Tafe and did a grooming course...It was so much fun and i learned a lot as well as meeting some really nice people
This is Lucie (the second arrival)...who is approx 9 (based on vets guesstamation..lol).. we rescued her from a very busy main road near our home...She was in really bad shape with major fur patches missing and raw scabby flesh around her eyes and muzzle (where all the fur was also missing)...This was due to mites but after only a couple of months you could not tell there was ever anything wrong with her...Early grooming days with Lucie were very tricky and drawn out as she had lots of trouble standing still (think ADHD with four legs and a tail..lol) but with much patience and plenty of perserverence she is now a very good girl ....God bless my vet who treated her for the first two months only charging me for the meds...She has been recently diagnosed with Cushings Disease and we are in the process of getting it under control
This is Roxie (the third to arrive)...approx age 9 (based on same vets best guess..lol) who i rescued from my sister's next door neighbour after they threw her out on the street to fend for herself when they moved in...Her frist clip was pretty tragic as her hair was matted together so badly that it came off in sheets and filled 2 Franklins plastic shopping bags...she was also very snappy as she had been poked and prodded and terrorised by very small children for much of the two years she had already lived ...She was not meant to stay with us (I had an alternative new home for her with a work colleague of mine) however Peppa had other ideas... lol

Re: My Furbabies
Thanx for that porsch...it's a bit scary after talking to the vet about what might go wrong with the next plan of action but i have great faith she is doing what's best and is ensuring she is well informed by consulting specialist advice from Sydney Uni...Lucie has always been special because despite everything she always has been a very happy dog ...

Re: My Furbabies
They look like a happy bunch of kids Did Lucie show the classic symptoms of thinning hair and pot belly? Just had a Standard Poodle client find out that their dog has Addisons. Hope all goes well for her

Re: My Furbabies
Hey Coatcutter ...thanx for the best wishes...Yes she did show those classic symptoms which is why the vet suspected Cushings and recommended the blood tests..She was always my most deceiving in that she was so slender looking and didn't look her weight at all... i was concerned at the body shape change and weight gain which i could not explain as she eats the same as the other two...that inspired the vet visit and wola now we are here..

Re: My Furbabies
Weeeeeeelllll......lol.. the others are coping mostly by giving her a wide berth for the moment i think they would be happier if i could "take the batteries out of that toy please mum".... lol...She is a feisty little one but...She has stood up to Lucie a couple of times when Lucie corrected her for her "ïn your face" hello...Early days yet though ...They are quite used to the grooming clients who wait in the house for their mums and dads to come collect them....they will adjust just fine when they realise this one is a keeper...lol
