Re: what is it???
Now, this is pathetic.
I have no stpoo clients so , that's ONE reason i got Natalie and I can't even finish her, on top of the crappy color job. Did this yesterday and I was just tooo tired to finish drying her, at which point she was a little ball on the table cause she got so tired too.
I know she doesn't look that great but i'm glad I got pics cause we went to the park later on and she went in the pond and MUD after another doggie friend. I had to put her in the tub again! So discouraged, but very happy I didn't take an extra hour just to have her go in the mud! Plus, she had fun.
I don'y even KNOW what color this is, it looks different in different lights. At least it's not glow in the dark , that would scare the heck out of me at night.

We start out standing up , then she hangs her head, soon after that she is moving as far away from me as she can, then sits.... you get the picture..
Good color description Standing on a blue rug she looks the most hidious shade of green/yellow

Re: what is it???
What did you use on Nat? Maybe someone would come out with a Glow In The Dark Dye.
Could be the next big thing for Halloween month.

Manic panic Electric Banana. I just read the label! it DOES glow under a black light. But, I don't have one. I'm not "cool" enough or maybe just too old. I don't even know what people use them for...

I think it's a cool color job. I knew that was Mingo, looked like a stuffed animal. The prima donna....

I don't have a black light either but normally they are for black light posters. Gives a cool effect at night when you just turn that on and stuff that's for the black light all glows. Then they have these black light markers that you can write with that only shows up with black light. So it's like invisible ink.
How much did you use on Nat in that pic?
Yea I think we all know it's Mingo.

Well now I'm disappointed... I thought that that's what you were going to do You'd be a hit at a nightclub - glow in the dark 'n all

Re: what is it???
They both look great - now we want to see you! Mingo is such a scream I know the "I'm so over being dried" pose. Mine lie down and eventually learn to go to sleep ( Like their Mom). Standard poos in show coat take one and a half hours - I could go to sleep too

Anthony, My nightclub days are SOOOO over!
Where do you guys START drying? Is one place better than another to be efficient? She's still a bit scared of the HV but gettig much better. Do any of you use a quick dry spray?

Re: what is it???
Well... how do you HV? My guess is you start at say the neck and go down the back, then the top of the legs and down the legs, then the head/ears/tail. Top to bottom in other words.
Try doing it the other way... bottom to top as it were. BUT, keep pointing the nozzle into the part that you just dried. E.g. start at the bottom of the leg with the nozzle pointing down and dry a section fairly well, and then move up and do the next section etc etc. The main thing that you want to do is keep blowing the water into the section you just dried. When you've finished the leg, redo it quickly and move on to the next leg. Same with the back... start at the tail and move to the head, nozzle pointing to the section you just dried. The sides... start at the bottom and slowly move up the ribs.
Let me know if that helps... I find it easier that way anyway

Re: what is it???
I start on the bits that will need scissoring as they need to be well dried, such as the back of the pack, legs and rosettes..them I move from the back of the pack towards the head.i don't scissor the head until I have sprayed (did I say that?) up, as you want a nice balanced outline. Remember I am still learning. I don't know anything about quick dry sprays
I do remember to keep the wet bits wet until you can dry them properly (wrap in a towel) and I wrap their poor wee heads to keep some of the noise out. Dry the show side last as that's the side the judge sees.
Don't worry about the HV - my 11 week old puppies are fine with it - they all get accustomed. Having said that my double K dryer is very adjustable, so I can be very gentle and work up.

Geez Anthony, there seems to be as many ways to dry as there are grooming styles I guess use what works for you!!

Re: what is it???
Thanks for the tips. I think I got in the habit of starting at the top of the back legs when I was new to make sure there was no bad reaction to the dryer. I might of learned that in school, every dog was a stranger then and I didn't know how they would be. But I still do it that way. Blowing onto the already "dried" part seems strange but I'll try it!
We are going to bathe nat tomorrow as we are going to a groom show for the weekend. Guess what? It's gonna RAIN!!

Re: what is it???
I rather like it! It is like a banana milkshake....... I just did some (well my kids) did my poos feet, one, red, one green, one yellow and one blue and down the tail the same combo of colours. I think the kids 7 and 5 did a pretty good job really for their age and of course it was great school holiday fun. I will try and post a pic if I can remember how to do the darn thing. He is the naughtiest dog I do ever, so disobedient that I want to farm him off to another groomer but that would defeat the purpose of getting him now wouldnt it???

Please post a pic B/B.
Yes Lorie, rain for the weekend. So thrilled about that. Not even sure what to pack now. I have no decent jackets, all farm stuff. Oh well, maybe I will wash one. Should I bring he shopping cart? I think it's in the basement.
BTW, not sure of my ETA. Courtney is nocturnal so I will have to pry her out of bed. That should be fun...
