Re: introducing me
Hi Deb. Welcome to the forum. I'm Trish and I run a mobile grooming franchise in the south east of Melbourne. You will love this forum, everyone is so helpful and supportive. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Love your Maltese.
And, thanks Andie, I love Maltesers too, but not so sure now that you have likened them to Maltese Poop.

Re: introducing me
Hi Deb,
Welcome. i have a friend who breeds Maltese (singular) down here in Vic, she has been doing very well in the ring of recent. A well presented Malt (singular) is a joy to behold.
I looove Irish Waters - they have the most melting expression. Now who are you going to import from in NZ, I know David (prefix???) in Auckland who amazes me (given his age) that he is so still so hale and hearty and involved in the breed. I also met Kevin Stafford in Palmerston North a few weeks ago, who is one of my lectureres in my behavioural course - I noted that he bred Irish Waters. There was also a chap I met eons ago in Christchurch who bred - don't know if he is still going.
We have a regualr group winning IW down here in Vic - but he would appear to have some temperament issues (is currently banned from the ring)
I am a newbie groomer - home (or should I say) kennel based, have learned a ton from this forum, and could not have fgone into it with the confidence i have without it.
i have been showing, breeding and grooming Springers for over 20 years.

Portia
thanks everyone for your warm welcomes, I havent dropped in here for a while, still not sure how it all works ie. how you 'keep up' with topics etc .. prefer to do my networking on Facebook these days, it is so much easier, and more fun, than the Yahoo groups I used to belong to ......
my avatar is my first Maltese PORTIA she is my heart dog, I love that little girl to bits .. I have only been in Maltese for 3 years and now I already have 5 !!!
the others are DOLLY (Portia's sister - a rehome cos her owners went to live overseas); WILLS a son of Dolly from my 2008 litters, WILLIS a Ch. male stud dog I purchased from a breeder in Victoria last year: and LIZA a Portia daughter who I retained from this year's litters .. suffering from MMM syndrome I am (Multiple Maltese Madness) .. love these little dogs they are the best!!!
anyway thanks everyone for the lovely comments about my dogs, I hope to get back here a little more regularly and keep in touch more often ..
luv .. deb

hi Jan, nice to meet someone who knows IWS
I know David that you spoke of, have visited his B&B and stayed with him while I was in NZ many years ago .. there was Dick Moreton in Christchurch but he passed away quite a few years ago now, also another bloke I knew in that area who bred but used his for hunting only, cant remember his name. I think I may have met Kevin, not sure? Im out of touch with the NZ Water Spaniel people in recent years seeing I dont have one any more.
I hope to import one from a European couple Cillia and Guus who have moved to NZ, they bought a Cuboglach dog over with them and now they have a daughter of him which they will be breeding from next year ie. 2010.
Im very saddened to hear about the IWS with temperament issues being banned from the ring down there in Victoria, wondering which dog it is? Would be interested to know? They are a funny breed who dont take kindly to strangers, sometimes, and can be challenging to show and socialise.
Anyway, lovely to be in touch with you, I like Springers too, I owned one once, also two Welshies at one stage, they were interesting LOL .. luv.. deb
