Hi Jane....welcome . We are glad to have you here.
I am a groomer in SA for 23 yrs now ,gone from bather/broom pusher to my own salon in Adelaide for 16 yrs ,and just 2 yrs ago i semi-retired to my home grooming studio in the stix ! My business has been known as "Dogs By Tammy " for 2 decades now. Can hardly believe where the time has gone.

thank you
I am so happy to have some other groomers to chat to. there is always someone you need to ask the odd thing to. I would love to hear other peoples experiences and business tips etc so if anyone has any please feel free to send them my way. Your feedback on my site would also be appreciated. i love it when people offer practical critisim as it is a good way to better your self. i have been grooming dogs for just over a year now and have done a bit of time with Chris Sperrin in sydney which was just fantastic, if you ever get the chance to go and meet her it is well worth it. chris rins the grooming school and is the best teacher. Chris kick started me off which was great , i have been grooming show horses for many years and have found the switch to dogs very easy. cheers jane

Welcome aboard Jane. Chris is in the Central Coast isn't she? Good to see that you enjoyed your time with her. Feel free to ask anything on here as there is someone that is likely to have dealt with the situation before. Oh, I'm Anthony from Sydney, and we just took over a shop about a year ago

Hi Anthony
chris is in Sydney, she has a salon in the middle of the city centre. I am hoping to get down again to see her and do another week of schooling. im sure she will give me a big slap on the wrist with a coupe of bad habits i have developed. Has anyone done any competitions at all i have been thinking of maybe doing one. but i thought i may have to wait a year or so until i got a bit better. see ya

Hey Jane
Aunty Marg from Brisbane 7 yrs in the bis 6 of those in my own salon. I have met Chris at a few PIAA events she is indeed a talented groomer and at the moment the only school I know of that I would reccommend. Glad to hear you had such a good experience. This is a great resource for hooking up with other groomers. Feel free to start your own topic. Would also reccomend any other networking you can. We have a group of groomers who meet in Brisbane for a Christmas dinner and throughout the year for a coffee. Members often pop into the shop and I have made some good friends.
I have found PIAA to be a great resource for seminars, and stuff like insurance and eftpos they also organise competitions. They have a novice section. There is a comp on the GoldCoast in October at their trade show, might be worth a look at least. (and No I have never entered but love to watch)
