Hi from Cardhu

Post  pawsenses on Tue Mar 24, 2009 8:38 pm

I have had the wonderful experience of meeting many Victorian members at the recent barbq. I have lernt so much already from this form plus talking to people on Sunday.

I am studying hard to be a Canine behaviouralist, and thought this could well run in conjucntion with grooming.

I have shown Springers for over 20 years, I had to learn grooming on my own , as my first Springer was from a pet kennel - so no one wanted to help. I spent months looking at the other dogs and trying to see how I could match the look. I have travelled the globe lokking at Springer grooming - and I think i am no too bad now!!!Hence now - i will help anyone.

I am working on the rest. If anyone is interested - I have a website www.cardhuess.com.au

Thans again for being so welcoming at the BBQ. Sierra thought she had died and gone to heaven - cuddles, food and nibbles in all quarters.

Thanks guys

Jan

You're very welcome Jan....i only wish i had time to talk in depth with everyone at the BBQ....just not long enough!

It was really a great time. So many dogs & groomers all getting along. Also nice to bring the dogs out in such a non judgemental setting !! No worry of whos saying what about whos dogs Rolling Eyes

Are you doing your canine behaviour course with Delta. Their course is v/good

It was lovely to meet you and your divine furbabes Jan!
Just checked out your website - very impressive! If I was a potential Springer owner I would definitely be applying for one of your pups! (Love the photo of Mum in Santa hat with pups at teat I love you )
I too love our welcoming, supportive environment and Sunday's bbq was a reflection of that. We are all different people with a common love - our dogs and grooming - but we all accept each other's differences and embrace them. That's the definition of a friend, in my book. I'm sure our dogs all picked up on the positive vibe and enjoyed the happy atmosphere.
Can't wait to do it all again soon cheers

Hi Tammy,
I did the Certificate course with Delta, and had signed up for the full on course. But I didn't feel comfortable with their concepts long term - they are very good - just not for me.

I am studying with a NZ University - canine Pyschology and Animal Husbandry. Plus The Dog Academey (to come) and I am also doing long distance learning with Brenda Aloff (USA) after atteding her seminar here - amazing trainer

OH POO!!! Jan, I can't get your website up. I click on your link and even enter the address, but always comes up as "page not displayed". I sooooo wanted to see your springers, your little boy at the bbq, was so adorable and so sweet. I'm sure it's just my dumb internet connection. Will try again over the next few days. POO!!! Mad

funny you should say that Jan... I did the Delta course about 8 yrs ago...and nevre really completed it for much the same reason! Also at that time i was crazy busy with my salon.

Good luck to you with your studies. However i also have to say goodluck getting people to pay what its worth for the time you put into behavioural training, and good luck getting people to actually listen and use your advice properly. This is such a satisfying field to be in when it goes right and brings success, but so disappointing when all your hard work falls on deaf ears and old habits. ....i know you know where i'm coming from. I searched my soul, and soon realised that behavioural training is my passion ,but grooming pays the bills Rolling Eyes

Tis wonderful when one does not know one's own web address Very Happy confused

Tammy - I may well end up ywith you, if grooming pays the bills!!! Yes i know what you mean - about if people will listen!!! I watch experienced show people with dogs and i wonder........... and they are experienced people!!

I spent today with Cathy Scotton, who some might know is a very skilled Cairn person - with beautifully presented Cairns - she showed me how to do Cairns and Westies - good fun.

Thanks Donna! Address worked without the .au.

Jan, your site is lovely, terrific photos. My fave is the puppy on the swing, toooo cute! You've a great deal to be proud of with so many champions and winners. Congratulations!

I don't know Cathy Scotton, but i certainly know OF her, she has immaculately groomed dogs. Lucky you!

Do you know Marie Merchant from SA? I grew up hanging around that crowd. My mum showed shih tzus.

We sort of did the Delta course about 9? years ago too. Didn't finish it either because of work/life too. Wierd huh. I agree, it's a good course, but they were a bit "my way or the highway" for my liking. Went to some good lectures and stuff, and did learn a fair bit though, which I've built on over the years.
