Hello from Scotland

Post  craig on Sat Feb 07, 2009 10:38 pm

Hi Everyone

I thought I would drop by and check your forum.

I own and run a dog grooming forum based in scotland to encourage, friendly chat between groomers and spread the word about breaking down the isolationist attitude that exists in the industry over here.

I work full time with my wife , helping out in the salon , she has 16 years of grooming behind her. I just bath . dry and do all the cleaning etc. reception duties..

Oh, we have 10 inches of snow in some places... DBT say you are having a heat wave, Iam so jealous.. Iam freezing

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Hi Craig and welcome. We're a friendly lot here, lots of support and advice freely shared.
The snow there is unimaginable to us - we're experiencing record heat and the worst bushfires in years which have affected some forum members so it's a very stressful time.
Your dogs are lovely - they love their frozen dinosaur!

Oh, dear when Tammy told me about heat wave. I did not know there was bush fires..
I hope you all are safe and get through this stressful time..

To settle your minds, I know Tammy as she is on our forum in scotland.
I just wanted to see how she was getting on with her forum, I have had a good look around and its Great..

Glad the tone here is friendly , just like our forum, we got fed up of being on other forums with the constant bickering , so we launched our own forum. With the golden rule,,a friendly place. Helping people, teaching respect and that it is to everyones benefit to get along.

Tammy,, Well Done on a great forum, If you need any help you know where I am.

Welcome Craig and ???????? You forgot to mention your wifes name. Im Jill from Qld.... Beautiful one day, perfect the next!!!!!!(Qeensland that is !!!!) I work from home on my own but only part time. Do only small dogs and the original biggies from when I started here 6 yrs ago. Worked in salon 6 yrs prior to that and have had Collies ,German shepherds bred and shown in past. Its warm here too at present but it can get hotter at this time of year. In this part of Australia (North of NSW)the summer temps. only reach low to mid thirties ( on the coast where I am ) but very high humidity...Sub tropical. We have a usually dry winter but get most of our rain in the summer season when the monsoons come down from the north..Youre pictures of snow look so pretty, but everyone says its different to live in. I do hope that all are safe "down south" in the bushfire areas here.... Look forward to hearing from you again Cheers from downunder Very Happy Very Happy

Hi Craig and Jen, I did post a reply here before but my server went down. I am Vanda from Carrum Downs in bush fire ravaged Victoria in Australia. Luckily I live in the southern suburbs and have not been affected. Have just been listening to the news and what is happening here is unbelievable and just makes you feel so sick. Am hoping none of the members from this forum have been affected. Anyway this is a great fun site so sit back, join in and welcome. PS I love Scotland especially the underground dungeons etc in Edinburgh, didn't get up North but loved what I saw. Had my first Haggis there in a whiskey sauce and it was yummy!!!!!!!! I am originally a celt but a Cornish one and have been in Australia for 35 years.

Hello from Scotland

Post  Tail's a Waggin' on Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:53 pm

Hi Graig, I'm sarah from Tail's a Waggin'. I have a mobile grooming business based in Melbourne.

Tammy has done a wonderful job with our forum here and everybody is really making it a wonderful support net. Since being with the forum I've seen a big improvement in my work and at the moment it seems we are begining to tour around so as to meet each other in person. Lot's of fun.

While your covered in snow we have tragically lost lives over here with terrible bush fires. Houses have been gutted in minutes with the gale force winds and extreme heat conditions making it near on impossible to fight. Six people were found this morning in their car. They didn't stand a chance with a fireball of flame taking over the top of them. One of our small historic towns, Marysville has been gutted with only one building left standing in the town. Sad ( Kasz I hope your alright, I've been worried sick about you and your family just near Wongdong)

Victoria is burning and poor Queensland is flooding. Sad

Love your photo's, your mastiff just looks so cuddly, I love them. Maybe you could post him over for a visit. Laughing

Glad you have joined us and look forward to chatting in our chat room soon. Very Happy

Welcome Craig and Jen, Your dogs are beautiful!

I'm in the US where we are at the tail end of our winter season and hopefully welcoming spring in the near future. Beautiful temps this week, 60's and 70's (degrees F)

Prayers out to those affected by the heat and the fires.

Glad to meet you, any friend of Tammy's is certainly a friend of ours.

Welcome Craig and Jen

I am Lisa, from Kalgoorlie, on the other side of the country to everyone else would be the easiest way to say it Very Happy and i work from my home full time. I've only been going a year so really great to have people on board especially those with experience like yourselves, so please, post those pictures as much as you can. I would imagine especially at this time of year that you don't get the shave downs like we do here. About 90% of my business is shaving the dogs with 7f's, winter thankfully I might even stretch to a 4f Very Happy so the amount of longer clips I get is limited but there's the odd one around. Great to see your creative side coming out too with the dolphin, very nicely done.

Good to have you on board.

Hi Craig and Jen
hope you enjoy our forum. I'm Kim from Dapto NSW, I am a mobile groomer and have been in this business for around 6 months. I find it exciting and daunting at the same time. I'm assuming that with more experience that the daunting part will diminish. scratch
