Hello All. Another newby
Marg here, groomer in Brisbane, started 6 years ago from home as a carreer change and moved into a shop 2 years ago.
Just opened an online store www.poodleshop.com.au as the body won't last forever. Love my job but some days it aches!
Am owned by a malt cross and malt both 13yrs old and a 10mth old Black and Tan Cocker boy.
I am a member of a group of groomers on the north side who meet occasionally to swap notes so I know the value of networking. Looking forward to new links and info sharing via this forum.

Welcome to the forum Marg. My name is Trish & I am a mobile groomer in the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne I have only been grooming for 18 months so I have heaps to learn. This forum is a great place to learn and share ideas. It's very friendly, and VERY ADDICTIVE.
Look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks we are very excited about the web site. Don't get many Afgans in Queensland.
We are a funny mob we groomers ,wouldn't you think we would get easy dogs to groom.
Funny though I love nothing more to sit on the floor after dinner and brush my little cocker boy.
It is interesting though to see how people got into this Job. I was a classic mutt owner looking for a change from teaching.
I was lucky enough that someone took a risk and gave me a job in a salon (bather /dryer was a bit of a $$$$ change!)
A quick learner I started my own salon after 6 mths (I cringe) fortunatly I did not do too much damage before I skilled up through experience DVDs and Books. PIAA seminars have also proved invaluable .I love what I do but would love to see more training available for those beginning now.

Yes, that would be great, I'm afraid we're all out on a limb to begin with. Hi Marg, I'm Lisa from Kalgoorlie WA. I work from home and have not quite completed a full year yet. I left the banking industry after throwing caution to the wind after practising on my peke, oh, I'm probably better known as Daisy's mum. You'll hear all about her I'm sure
Welcome, great to get new members and don't forget to tell your groupies too

Welcome aboard Aunty Marge. I'm Anthony from Sydney. I bet some of the dogs are better behaved than some of the kids you've taught
Oh, we have a few poodles too by the way...

Hey Aunty...
Welcome! Like yourself i too was a teacher and fed up with the system i took some well deserved long service leave to explore options...I had been grooming my own three girls for years and found a Tafe course for grooming on offer so i went for it...I also gained my Austswim qualifications while on leave and was lucky enough to get a job with the best employer! So i teach swimming mostly but have a select client base (all gained by word of mouth) that come to my home whom i grooming by request...I now have the best of both worlds.... lol...
Since joining this forum i have not only learned a lot, made a few on line fiends but also aquired a new four legged family member in the form of Ashlee (Formerly of South Australia living with Tammy-Admin lol) She is an absolute joy!!
Looking forward to you sharing together with all of us the pearls of your wisdom

Hey Anthony
yes the dogs are in many ways easier to manage, some of the clients are a different matter
. Luckily most of my time is spent with the dogs.
